THE EFFECT OF PEER ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUE AND ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION TOWARD STUDENTS' WRITING COMPETENCY OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 2 MENGWI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-2016
Abstract
Studi eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk menemukan (1) perbedaan pengaruh asesmen rekan sejawat terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa, (2) pengaruh interaksi jenis asesmen menulis dan motivasi berprestasi terhadap kompetensi menulis, (3) pengaruh teknik asesmen rekan sejawat terhadap kompetensi menulis pada siswa yang memiliki motivasi berprestasi tinggi, (4) pengaruh teknik asesmen rekan sejawat terhadap kompetensi menulis pada siswa yang memiliki motivasi berprestasi rendah Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 2 Mengwi tahun ajaran 2015-2016. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan post-test only control group dengan 2 x 2 desain faktorial. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner motivasi berprestasi dan kompetensi menulis yang kemudian dianalisis dengan Two Way ANOVA dan Tukey test pada taraf kesalahan 5%. Temuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) asesmen rekan sejawat berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa, (2) terdapat pengaruh interaksional antara penerapan asesmen rekan sejawat dan motivasi berprestasi terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa, (3) asesmen rekan sejawat berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa yang memiliki motivasi berprestasi tinggi, (4) asesmen rekan sejawat tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa yang memiliki motivasi berprestasi rendah.

This experimental study aimed at investigating: (1) the difference of peer assessment toward students’ writing competency, (2) the interaction effect of writing assessment type and achievement motivation toward students’ writing competency, (3) the effect of peer assessment technique on the high achievement motivated students’ writing competency, and (4) the effect of peer assessment technique on the low achievement motivated students’ writing competency. The population was the tenth graders of SMAN 2 Mengwi in academic year 2015-2016. The sample was chosen through cluster sampling technique. The data were collected through achievement motivation questionnaire and writing competency test and analyzed by Two Way ANOVA and Tukey test at 5% significance level. The results of this research were: (1) peer assessment affected significantly on students’ writing competency, (2) there was an interactional effect between the implementation of peer assessment and the students’ achievement motivation, (3) peer assessment affected significantly on the high achievement motivated students’ writing competency, (4) peer assessment did not affect the low achievement motivated students’ writing competency.
