Studi Kasus Kepemimpinan Pelayan (Servant Leadership), Wawasan Multikultural, dan Kecerdasan Emosional Pimpinan di Hainan School
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan lebih mendalam tentang kepemimpinan pelayan (servant leadership), wawasan multikultural dan kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin di Hainan School. Tegasnya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan apakah pemimpin menerapkan kepemimpinan pelayan, memiliki pemahaman tentang multikultural serta memiliki kecerdasan emosi yang baik. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan studi kasus. Wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif serta studi dokumentasi merupakan teknik yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data di lapangan. Pengecekan kredibilitas data dengan menggunakan teknik triangulasi, member check dan diskusi teman sejawat. Data yang terkumpul diorganisir, dianalisis berulang untuk membentuk sebuah konsep temuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah Hainan School berupaya untuk menerapkan kepemimpinan pelayan (servant leadership) dalam kepemimpinanya akan tetapi belum sepenuhnya berhasil. Kepala sekolah belum memahami wawasan multikulturalisme secara teori akan tetapi yang bersangkutan menerapkan sebagian dari yang diharapkan dari multikulturalisme itu sendiri. Kecerdasan emosional yang bersangkutan juga belum sepenuhnya baik. Dihasilkan pula sebuah kesimpulan bahwa seorang pemimpin akan mampu melaksanakan kepemimpinan pelayan (servant leadership) dalam kepemimpinannya jika yang bersangkutan memiliki kecerdasan emosi yang sehat dan memiliki wawasan multikultural yang baik. Oleh karena itu disarankan kepada pemimpin untuk meningkatkan kualitas kepemimpinannya melalui kegiatan-kegiatan yang mendukung terhadap kemampuannya seperti mengikuti workshop tentang kepemimpinan, mengikuti kursus ataupun melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang selanjutnya yang sesuai dengan bidang tersebut.

This thesis deals with revealing about servant leadership deeply, multicultural horizon, and emotional quotion of the school principal at Hainan School. Explicitly, the objective of the study was to find out whether the leader applies the servant leadership, whether the leader has understanding of multicultural horizon and also has good emotional quotion. The approach used in this study was qualitative method with the case study model. Deep interview, participate observation, and also documentary technique were used to obtain the data in the field study. The data credibility checked used was by using triangulation, member checked, and co-workers discussion. The obtained data was organized, analyzed consistantly to build a concept of findings of the study. The findings were shown that the Hainan School principal tried to applies servant leadership in their work but not so well. Theoritically, the principal did not understand about multicultural horizon, but he just applied some parts of multicultural horizon itselfs. It was concluded that a leader is able to apply servant leadership in his work if someone has good emotional and has a good multicultural horizon. Therefore, it is suggested that the leader increases the leadership quality by doing some activities to support his ability such as joining leadership workshop, courses and also continuing his study to the next level of the certain major.
