KONTRIBUSI PERSEPSI SISWA TENTANG KEMAMPUAN GURU MENGELOLA PEMBELAJARAN, KEMAMPUAN VERBAL, DAN EKSPEKTASI KARIR TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA KELAS XI IPA PADA SMA NEGERI DI KECAMATAN TABANAN
Abstract
penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi persepsi siswa tentang kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran, kemampuan verbal, ekspektasi karir, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI IPA pada SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Tabanan. Penelitian ini melibatkan 116 siswa sebagai sampel dari keseluruhan 464 populasi dari 2 sekolah negeri di Kecamatan Tabanan. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian ex-post facto. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui metode kuesioner dan tes kemampuan bahasa Inggris. Data penelitian yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan regresi sederhana serta regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat kontribusi yang positif dan signifikan persepsi siswa tentang kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 6% dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 2,77%, (2) terdapat kontribusi yang positif dan signifikan kemampuan verbal terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 83% dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 38,35%, (3) terdapat kontribusi yang positif dan signifikan ekspektasi karir terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 11% dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 5,08%, (4) terdapat kontribusi yang positif dan signifikan secara bersama-sama persepsi siswa tentang kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran, kemampuan verbal, dan ekspektasi karir terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI IPA pada SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Tabanan sebesar 46,2%.

The purposes of this research were to investigate the contribution of the students’ perception about the teachers’ ability in learning management, verbal reasoning, career expectation, both individually and collectively toward the English achievement of Grade XI science program students in public high schools in Tabanan District. This research involved 116 students as the sample of 464 population from 2 public high schools in Tabanan District. It is also classified as an ex-post facto one. The data needed were obtained through questionnaire and English verbal capability test. Statistic-descriptive, simple regression, and also multiple regression were adopted for processing the data obtained. The results show that (1) the students’ perception about the teacher’s ability in learning management is identified having positive and significant contribution towards the English achievement, that is 6%, with a 2,77% effective contribution, (2) the English verbal reasoning gives positive and significant contribution towards the English achievement, that is, 83%, with a 38,35% effective contribution, (3) the career expectation also gives positive and significant contribution towards the English achievement, that is, 11%, with 5,08% effective contribution., (4) the students’ perception about the teachers’ ability in learning management, verbal reasoning, and career expectation collectively, give positive and significant contribution toward the English achievement of grade XI science program students in public high schools in Tabanan District, that is 46,2 %.
