Development of Empathy Scale Instruments for Middle School Students (SMP)
Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to develop a measuring instrument and test its feasibility so as to produce a valid and reliable instrument in measuring the level of empathy in junior high school students. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method proposed by Thiagarajan (1974). Validity testing involved five experts and counseling guidance practitioners to assess the appropriateness of the developed instrument consisting of 30 statement items. While the reliability testing involved 69 respondents of Undiksha Junior High School students distributed via Googleform. Based on the validity and reliability test, the empathy instrument for junior high school students that was developed fulfilled the validity criteria and was included in the high validity and reliability category with a validity value of 0.86 and a reliability of 0.787. So that the empathy scale instrument for junior high school students can be said to be feasible for measuring empathy in students.
