Menganalisis Strategi Komunikasi Digunakan oleh Guru Bahasa Inggris dari Sekolah Menengah Pertama di SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tipe-tipe strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru bahasa inggris, motif penggunaan strategi- strategi komunikasi oleh guru-guru bahasa inggris, strategi- strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleg guru memenuhi kriteria guru bahasa inggris yang baik, dan persepsi murid terhadap strategi- strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru-guru bahasa inggris. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah dua guru bahasa inggris, kelas VIIA1 dan VIIA8 dari SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tiga instrumen yaitu, lembar pengamatan, panduan wawancara dan kuesioner. Tipe-tipe strategi komunikasi dikumpulkan dengan observasi dan rekaman, motif penggunaan strategi- strategi komunikasi dkumpulkan dengan wawancara dan rekaman, strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru memenuhi kriteria guru-guru bahasa inggris yang baik dikumpulkan dengan lembar pengamatan sedangkan kuesioner digunakan untuk menginvestigasi persepsi murid-murid terhadap strategi- strategi komunikasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ada 17 tipe strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru bahasa inggris. Pengulangan adalah yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru bahasa inggris. Motif penggunaan strategi- strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru-guru bahasa inggris adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara dan membuat siswa mudah mengikuti aktifitas dengan memahami materi. Sedangkan strategi- strategi komunikasi digunakan oleh guru memenuhi kriteria guru-guru bahasa inggris yang baik menunjukkan bahwa dua guru bahasa inggris memuaskan. Itu berarti bahwa guru-guru meruakan kriteria guru-guru bahasa inggris yang baik. Data juga menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru bahasa inggris, mendapatkan persepsi yang bagus dari siswa mereka dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi.

This study aimed to describe the types of Communication Strategies used by the English Teachers, the motive of use Communication Strategies by English Teachers, Communication Strategies used by the teachers meet the criteria of good English Teachers, and Students’ Perception toward the communication strategies used by the English Teachers. The subjects of this study were two English teachers, seventh A1 and A8 grades of SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. The data were collected by using three instruments, namely observation sheet, interview guide, and questionnaire. The types of communication strategies were gathered by observing and recording, the motive of use Communication Strategies was gathered by English Teachers by interviewing guide and recording, Communication Strategies used by the teachers meet the criteria of good English teachers were gathered by observation sheet, while the questionnaire was used to investigate the students’ perception toward the Communication Strategies. The result showed that there were 17 types of Communication Strategies used by the English teachers. Repetition was the most frequently used by English teachers. The motive of use Communication Strategies used by the English teachers was to improve the students’ speaking ability and made the students easy to follow the activity by understanding the material. While Communication Strategies used by the teachers meet the criteria of good English teachers showed that the two English teachers were satisfactory. It means that English teachers as criteria of good teachers. The data also showed that the English teachers got a good perception from their students in using communication strategies.
