PENGARUH PENDEKATAN METAPHORICAL THINKING TERHADAP MOTIVASI DAN PRESTASI BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 1 TEJAKULA

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pendekatan metaphorical thinking terhadap motivasi dan prestasi belajar matematika. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain post-test only control group. Populasi penelitian   adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Tejakula. Sampel ditentukan dengan teknik random sampling yang diambil 2 kelompok kemudian diuji kesetaraannya. Data motivasi belajar dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan angket, sedangkan data prestasi belajar matematika dikumpulkan dengan tes berbentuk essay. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji MANOVA. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: pertama, terdapat perbedaan motivasi dan prestasi belajar matematika antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan  pendekatan metaphorical thinking dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pembelajaran konvesional (F = 25,511 dan Sig. = 0,000 < ρ = 0,05); kedua, terdapat perbedaan motivasi belajar antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan metaphorical thinking dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pembelajaran konvesional (F = 37,680 dan Sig. = 0,000 < ρ = 0,05); ketiga, terdapat perbedaan prestasi belajar matematika antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan metaphorical thinking dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pembelajaran konvesional (F = 8,425dan Sig. = 0,005 < ρ = 0,05). Dengan demikian pendekatan metaphorical thinking berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa, pengaruh positif ini dilihat dari rata-rata skor motivasi belajar dan rata-rata nilai prestasi belajar.

Abstract

This research has purpose for explaining the effect of metaphorical thinking approach towards motivation and achievement in learning mathematic. This research categoryze as quasi-experiment research with post-test only control group design. The population of the research is VII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tejakula. The sample is determined by using cluster random sampling technique which was taken 2 groups then was tested the equality. The motivation to learn data were collected by using questionnaire, while achievements learning mathematic data were collected by using essay. The data which were obtained and analyzed through MANOVA test. The result of analysis shows that: first, there is difference within motivation and achievement in learning mathematic between students who followed learning through metaphorical thinking approach and students who follow learning through conventional approach (F = 25,511 and Sig.= 0,000< ρ = 0,05); second, there is difference in motivation to learn between students who followed learning through metaphorical thinking approach and students who followed learning through conventional learning (F = 37,680 and Sig. = 0,000< ρ = 0,05); third, there is difference in achievement of mathematic learning between students who followed learning through metaphorical thinking approach and students who followed learning through conventional learning (F = 8,425 and Sig. = 0,005< ρ = 0,05).  Thus, metaphorical thinking approach take effect positive towards motivation and achievement of mathematic learning student, this positive effect can be seen from average score of motivation learning and averages score of achievement learning.
